Immediate actions on climate challenge for Brentwood

Following the Council’s declaration of a Climate Emergency, a specialist working group, chaired by Brentwood South Councillor Dr Tim Barrett, has identified early actions that will get Brentwood Borough Council more than halfway towards its 2030 Net Zero ambition.

The majority of these measures are either cost-neutral or revenue-generating for example adding solar panels and further insulating the Brentwood Centre indicating the wider benefits of a climate conscious approach. Plans have also progressed for energy-efficient social homes, which will be carbon-neutral in use, serving future Brentwood generations.

Cllr Dr Tim Barrett said: “Setting out with real purpose we can make an impact and demonstrate that being climate conscious also makes real economic sense and reduces the cost of living for future generations of our community.”
