Manifesto for Brentwood 2015 – pledge 5

IMG_4893The Labour members of Brentwood Borough Council have been working hard on your behalf since the last election to ensure that frontline services are protected in the face of unprecedented funding cuts by the Conservative-led Government.

However, we still need to ensure all members of our community receive the support they require to live independently, to develop the town, to protect essential services, and with more Labour Councillors we could achieve many more of our ambitions. To highlight the difference we could make, and our intentions if successful, we have produced our Manifesto for Brentwood which outlines our five pledges to the residents of Brentwood.

Pledge 5: To develop & promote Brentwood Borough’s excellent location as a great place to start, expand & sustain a business.

We will:

  • Encouraging more businesses to move to Brentwood by using our discretion to reduce business rates and discounting rates for businesses paying the Living Wage.
  • Continue to consider redevelopment options for William Hunter Way that work for both local residents and businesses.
  • Develop a new parking strategy for the Borough that brings down the cost of parking and increases the amount of spaces available.
  • Ensuring consistent high standards of street cleaning & maintenance across the Borough.
  • Putting the Borough on the tourist map by advertising our diverse heritage & leisure facilities, especially our beautiful parks.
  • Establishing a working party to report within six months on how the Borough can attract employers.
