Manifesto for Brentwood 2015 – pledge 4

IMG_4886The Labour members of Brentwood Borough Council have been working hard on your behalf since the last election to ensure that frontline services are protected in the face of unprecedented funding cuts by the Conservative-led Government.

However, we still need to ensure all members of our community receive the support they require to live independently, to develop the town, to protect essential services, and with more Labour Councillors we could achieve many more of our ambitions. To highlight the difference we could make, and our intentions if successful, we have produced our Manifesto for Brentwood which outlines our five pledges to the residents of Brentwood.

Pledge 4: Demand more from the County Council on our High Street, street lights and road repairs.

We will:

  • Ensure that the County Council follows through on its promises and brings the High Street back into a good state of repair.
  • Put forward resident demands for our streetlights to be turned back on, and recognising the potential for financial and environmental benefits ask the County to move over to LED lighting.
  • Work with the Local Highways Panel to develop more 20mph zones in residential areas, especially areas with amenity greens, considerable young or elderly populations.
  • Continue to push the County Council to repair our roads, fill our potholes, replace broken paving and making our Borough safer for cyclists.
